Agate ID: agate_005
Weight 0.1oz. 1/2" x 1/2" x 3/8".
Hard white with mustard. Fortication and eyes.
Small, but, a deadly combination.

A beautiful hard white with mustard on the husk.
Concentric tear-shaped lines, polished face. As with all of my

Agate ID: agate_040
Weight 0.3oz. 3/4" x 5/8" x 1/2".
"The Grand Marais". Found this downtown
in the water on the beach there. One of the best examples of
fortification and water level lines I have found.
This stone has gone through a single tumbling stage (fine).
Agate ID: agate_051
Weight 11 grams. 7/8" x 5/8" x 1/2".
"The State of Minnesota" agate. Top rated
fortification pattern and quality in this amber. Face polished.
Agate ID: agate_059
Weight 0.1oz. 5/8" x 1/2" x 3/8".
The subtle difference in the rate
in which fortification lines are eroding is interesting.
I don't call this an "eye" even though the fortification
pattern somewhat resembles one.
Agate ID: agate_062
Weight 0.3oz. 3/4" x 5/8" x 5/8". Rich, high-quality
candy stripper. I don't recall it's original condition
before polishing, but, in the early years I made the
mistake of polishing some stones I would not today.
Agate ID: agate_067
Weight 0.1oz. 3/4" x 1/2" x 1/4". I love the unique
fortification on the end of this stone. One of my

lines exposed on one end. The fortification on the other
side is most interesting.

This stone was found about one mile from Paradise Beach.
It has a pretty pink core with an amazingly tight line pattern.
Agate ID: agate_131
Weight 0.2oz. 3/4" x 5/8" x 5/8".
I do like the fortification
pattern shown on left and the red husk on right. The fractures
shown in the center lessen this stones natural quality.
A good candidate for a face polish.

A small but beautiful agate and fortification pattern. Natural.
Agate ID: agate_156
Weight 0.1oz. 3/4" x 1/2" x 1/2".
Pretty line pattern, fortification. The cloudy white exterior
is a trait of higher quality agate chunks found
on Paradise Beach.
Agate ID: agate_163
Weight 0.2oz. 7/8" x 5/8" x 1/2".
Beautiful high quality fortification on the end of this blue.
Agate ID: agate_168
Weight 0.1oz. 7/8" x 5/8" x 1/2".
Pretty mustard! Amethyst core.
Agate ID: agate_183
Weight 6 grams. 3/4" x 3/4" x 1/2".
It's becoming harder to find bright agates with lines on
Paradise Beach!
Agate ID: agate_186
Weight 0.5oz. 1 1/4" x 5/8" x 5/8".
Agates with this type of exterior are usually low quality (not
well formed). This one, found about a mile from Paradise Beach,
manages to eak out pretty nice lines.
Agate ID: agate_220
Weight 4 grams. 3/8" x 5/8" x 7/8".
Bold colorful agate lines are fast disappearing from an
increasingly picked-over Paradise Beach. This is a small
remnant. For me, classic Paradise Beach
nodules differentiate from the typical lakers more
commonly found in WI/MN gravel pits and along the shores of
rivers like the St. Croix.
Agate ID: agate_225
Weight 3 grams. 3/8" x 1/2" x 7/8".
This small "blue" has some tubes on the backside and a delicate
pattern of lines on the face. Found by Sue.
Agate ID: agate_238
Weight 9 grams. 3/4" round.
The concentric line pattern is a real zinger.
Agate ID: agate_239
Weight 26 grams. 3/4" x 1 1/8" x 1 1/8".
Nice chunk with good banding.
Agate ID: agate_240
Weight 11 grams. 5/8" x 3/4" x 3/4".
One side of the face is beautifully wind and sand blasted (naturally) with shadow banding.
The other half turns disappointing.
Agate ID: agate_247
Weight 3 grams. 3/8" x 5/8" x 3/4".
Eye catching banding! Classic painted Paradise Beach.
Agate ID: agate_278
Weight 4 grams. 1/2" x 5/8" x 7/8".
Pretty banded transparent. Banded agates in particular are quickly
picked because that's what most people know to look for.
Agate ID: agate_279
Weight 2 grams. 3/8" x 3/8" x 3/4".
One of my 2009 favorites! This hard white has a small vent on the nicely-rounded tip.
Agate ID: agate_282
Weight 3 grams. 1/4" x 5/8" x 1".
Banded mustard.
